From 14 to 19 May 2022, SHEEP Indonesia Foundation for the Central Sulawesi region developed a disaster mitigation system for 3 hamlets in Bangga Village through the creation of emergency SOPs and disaster management. SOPs are created as a tool for the community to know the procedures they must carry out when saving themselves when a disaster occurs and the basis for the policies to be used in the village.
The preparation of SOPs involving disaster response groups (KTB), Disaster Risk Reduction Forums (F-DRR), village governments and representatives of the Bangga community is carried out from hamlet to hamlet by adjusting the circumstances and disaster threat of each hamlet, so that the resulting documents accommodate the facts of conditions, potentials and threats faced by the community. One of the interesting processes in the preparation took place in hamlet 3; many communities volunteer to sit together and listen and provide input to the drafting team about which places can be used as gathering points, identify the presence of vulnerable groups in the hamlet, and provide logistical support for the drafting team.
The next stages agreed upon in the preparation of the SOP, including; designing the Community Evacuation Center (PEM) to be a logistics and assistance center, discussing documents together to get community input, and providing provisions to the community to be able to independently update emergency SOPs when there are updates in the future.
