On Monday and Tuesday, April 25-26, 2022, SHEEP Indonesia Foundation together with the Community Base Organization (OMB) Titu Ruba Murime carried out a planning discussion activity for determining the superior village commodity products to be cultivated as the focus of field school practice. The discussion was a follow-up to the practice of identifying problems and potential villages with the participatory rural apraisal (PRA) method that had been carried out previously.
The discussion was attended by cross-sectoral participants including; 32 members of the CBO Titu Ruba Muri, a Kotahawu village apparatus organization, National force officers and extension Raijua meth district agricultural service extension officers. The presence of cross-sectoral participants is an effort to invite all parties to synergize in the development of local food independence programs. The discussion session began with the preparation of an annual work program followed by the selection of the village's leading food commodities. Based on the potential identified in PRA practice as well as the potential and problems regarding food dependence, all members agreed to choose sorghum as a commodity to be studied together in field schools. Sorghum is one of the food potentials based on those that are in accordance with geographical conditions and are included in the history of local food in Kotahawu village. The next discussion, the community is invited to choose the location of the pilot land that will be a joint learning point, then determine the stages
The dynamics of the discussion with the selection of commodities became an interesting discussion, so the head of the village of Kotahawu Bpk.Daniel Pi Kaho welcomed and responded that the village is ready to support and contribute to providing an area of 10 ha that can be used by CBO Titu Ruba Muri and the village community to plant and cultivate sorghum. "We want to be able to plant sorghum at least 10 ha in Kotahawu village, in line with the choice of commodities of course by OMB Titu Ruba Muri The village government certainly supports and encourages the community to make the most of this learning" he concluded.
