On Monday (14/02/22) at the Oefeto Village office in the Kupang area, SHEEP Indonesia initiated the formation of a village community organization (CBO) named Tafena Hit. The philosophy of choosing this name comes from the enthusiasm of the residents to build a village which if interpreted as Let's Build a Village because this will also be the basis and direction of the purpose of this OMB. In addition, the OMB was formed to encourage its members to have the knowledge and skills capacity to work with stakeholders from an economic perspective.
During the process of its formation, it was emphasized that the OMB is important for the village and is not just a formality to seek assistance from the government but has a clear structure, objectives and programs to improve their standard of living. In this activity, participants are invited to identify potential and superior products. During the initiation, it was found that corn, beans, free-range chicken and beef were identified as local food which were also found to be potential foods that were cultivated by the community to be developed.
In addition to the potential for local food, Oefeto Village also has potential assets in the form of post-harvest corn processing equipment, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, which until now have not been maximally used and managed. In the future, with OMB, the potential of local food can be managed along with the facilities to advance the village.
