As a non-structural mitigation effort in the Santong Mulia village area, SHEEP Indonesia Foundation together with the local community on Sunday (06/02/22) initiated the Tree Planting action to protect the springs of the Sumur Jiri and Tukak Bendu hamlets. Efforts to maintain existing springs in the village are used to fulfill water supply for the community, maintain spring sources so that natural sustainability is increasingly maintained while preventing landslides around the springs area.
The action, which was carried with the jargon "sustainable greetings, green Santong Mulia, water is the source of life" was attended by the Village Government, TSBD, members of the Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision (PAMSIMAS), Youth Organizations, Dusun Youth, and local communities. The enthusiasm of the participants was manifested in the form of their volunteerism to bring personal planting equipment as well as logistical assistance for activity participants.
The tree planting action is a follow-up to the results of the risk assessment that the village has had. Furthermore, the commitment continues and is managed as part of a village development policy to reduce vulnerability.
