Healthy Food Processing Training for the residents of Hamlet 3 RT0.2 & RT.3, Bangga Village, South Dolo District, Bangga Regency was conducted by the SHEEP Indonesia Foundation as part of the hygiene and health promotion program. Food processing training is based on the analysis results that the protein intake of the Kaili Da'a Indigenous People is very low.
The Kaili Da'a Indigenous People before relocating to Hamlet 3 RT2 & RT3 Desa Bangga lived in the Tomodo Mountains and relied heavily on garden produce to meet their food needs. Carbohydrates are usually obtained from harvested cassava or corn plus papaya leaf vegetables and or sweet potato leaves, but the community's protein intake is still very low (based on a survey conducted by YSI). Seeing this condition, YSI provided training in healthy food processing for the women of the Kaili Da'a Indigenous Community on how to add protein content to their food ingredients. The addition of protein intake, for example: processing sweet potato leaves / papaya leaves with fish / eggs / coconut milk. Food hygiene is also emphasized in the training on healthy food processing.
The training begins with the use of the yard to become a family nutrition garden and a family medicine garden so that people can get food from their yard where they grow vegetables such as mustard greens, long beans, eggplant and bitter gourd. The enthusiasm of the residents can be seen from the number of non-cadre mothers who want to take part in the training so that the participants develop into 92 people who are divided into small classes of a maximum of 20 people for each training. It is hoped that the increased capacity for environmental management and healthy food processing among the women of the Kaili Da'a Indigenous Community will accelerate the adaptation process of the community in the new residential area and improve the health quality of the family and the next generation.
