YSI's Emergency Response programme has started on 5 December 2022 and will end on 5 March 2023. Various programme activities have been implemented to help earthquake-affected communities to meet their basic needs. Based on the needs assessment conducted by the YSI Assessment Team at the beginning of the programme intervention, the urgent needs of the affected communities are tents / tarpaulins & household equipment such as mats & blankets, cooking utensils and clean water.
As a follow up to the needs assessment conducted by YSI in the 3 villages targeted by the YSI programme, namely Sarampad Village, Kutawaringin Village and Mekarjaya Village, YSI distributed goods that were needed by the affected communities, especially for families with groups such as infants / toddlers, pregnant or lactating women, women as heads of households, people with disabilities and the elderly. The aid distribution process carried out by YSI is a continuation of the previous programme activities, namely the repair of pipeline lines, preparation of water reservoirs and land clearing. Land clearing is very important so that affected residents who still live in communal tents can immediately return to their homes by setting up temporary shelter tents.
The relief items distributed by YSI are tarpaulins to support the community to make tents or temporary shelters and also sleeping equipment in the form of mats and blankets. In addition, there are also towels, kitchen utensils and practical water filters (SAP) to support survivors to maintain personal hygiene, food preparation with proper kitchen tools and fulfil the need for clean water or healthier drinking water.
As of the 3rd week of February 2023, 264 pcs of tarpaulins, 249 blankets, 252 mats, 91 units of SAP and their stands and 200 packages of household appliances in the form of stacking plastic cabinets, teapots, Citel, plates, spoons, scrapers, spatulas and ladles have been distributed. Of the 3 villages targeted by the YSI programme, the largest number of beneficiaries or participants is in Salakawung Village, Sarampad Village, which is one of the areas most severely affected by the earthquake.
To ensure that the relief goods distributed to the survivors are in accordance with what has been informed and to get feedback and or input from the survivors in the distribution process, Onsite Distribution Monitoring (ODM) is also carried out and after one to two weeks after distribution, Post Monitoring Distribution (PDM) is carried out.
