On 20 April 2023, SHEEP Indonesia Foundation (YSI) together with Fatuteta village government, village facilitators, and community representatives conducted a review of the Fatuteta RPJMdes document. The purpose of this review is to ensure that the document has included gender-responsive food self-sufficiency efforts.
The results of the review showed that the development plans contained lead to food self-sufficiency. One of them is through the creation of irrigation, because people in Fatuteta village and neighbouring villages are farmers, but they do not have access to water on their land; this was conveyed by the Head of Fatuteta village, Obetnego. "There is a development plan that leads to food, one of which is the construction of irrigation, where in our village the community farms in the neighbouring village because there is no access to water on their land in the village" explained Obetnego, head of Fatuteta village.
Although food self-sufficiency efforts have not been explicitly written in the RPJMDes, awareness and efforts have been directed to support the development of Fatuteta village food. Therefore, to further strengthen understanding of the importance of gender-responsive food self-sufficiency, a special workshop is proposed.
The workshop proposal that emerged from the review is expected to further encourage and provide insight into village officials and communities in the gender and inclusion sector in the realm of building food self-sufficiency in Fatuteta village. Those who are at risk and marginalised can have access, control, and participate in village development and get benefits as needed.
