Saturday (13/08/22) at the Kotahawu Village office, SHEEP Indonesia Sabu Raijua Region along with 3 hamlets in kotahawu village formed a sekolah lapang dissemination forum (SL). The forum was formed because of the high enthusiasm of the community outside the CBO group members who want to participate in sekolah lapang activities so that there is a need for a forum that can be used as a community to learn and share experiences. The forum was initiated to become an information center and learning place for the community and shallot commodities selected and agreed upon by the CBO group of Kotahawu village.
This forum was attended by 50 participants, with one of the activities that has been started is a discussion of plant development. One of the problems faced, when the preparation of sekolah lapang and the determination of planting locations are quite far from the settlement, this is quite difficult for participants. The planting location that is quite far from where they live makes it difficult in the process of growing crops and checking developments, because many members have other jobs besides gardening around their homes. For a while, the existing and agreed solution was for the participants to plant corn and onion commodities near their homes, making it easier for their mobility. This process is part of SL learning and they can explain the results of sekolah lapang to all participants so that other communities can learn.
At the end of the dissemination, YSI along with the village government and CBO group encouraged the community to participate fairly in sekolah lapang learning and jointly learn how to identify problems in shallot and corn commodities, by observing the problems that have been faced, namely around root rot, caterpillar and locust pests and dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides in conventional agricultural processes that the community is currently running. Second, YSI encourages information disclosure from CBO and village governments so that every activity carried out and for the community is carried out transparently so that the community is more resilient.
