On Tuesday (25/01/22) at the hamlet hall of Toloulaggo, Katurei Village, Siberut Region, SHEEP Indonesia initiated the formation of a Village Community Organization (OMB) named Katurei Simatoro. The OMB was formed to be strengthened so that it has the knowledge and skills to work with stakeholders from an economic perspective.

In its formation, it was emphasized that CBO  is important for villages and is not just a formality to seek assistance from the government but has a clear structure, objectives and programs to improve their standard of living. CBO Kature is divided into 2 small groups, namely farmer groups and fishermen groups by learning to identify potential and superior products. During the initiation, it was found that there were anggau crabs and lokan clams for fishing groups as well as taro, bananas, sago for agricultural groups which were identified as local foods to be developed.

OMB Kature Simantoro is one of the groups involved in encouraging local food system independence in Siberut Regency.
