YOGYAKARTA. In preparation for the 2026/2027 academic year, SD Sanjaya Tritis successfully conducted its Annual Strategic Planning Workshop from 29 June to 1 July 2026. The three day event focused on evaluation, program planning, and strengthening institutional commitment. It brought together 20 participants, including the school management team, principal, teachers, administrative staff, and representatives from Yayasan SHEEP Indonesia (YSI).

More than an annual planning meeting, the workshop served as a collaborative space to develop strategies for improving the quality of education while continuing the integration of climate justice and child protection into the school's curriculum and learning activities. This initiative has been implemented in partnership with YSI since July 2024.

 
Day One. Reflection, Evaluation, and Cross Department Appreciation

The workshop opened with a Morning Coffee session, welcoming newly appointed teachers and introducing the YSI team. This informal gathering helped foster relationships before participants began evaluating the previous academic year's programs in curriculum development, student affairs, facilities management, the school health unit, cafeteria, and library services.

The first day concluded with a collaborative session titled Appreciation and Cross Department Strengthening. Each department recognized one key strength demonstrated by another department and identified opportunities for future collaboration. The exercise encouraged mutual appreciation while highlighting the collective potential for continuous improvement.

 
Day Two. Designing Priority Programs and Aligning Climate Justice Integration

On the second day, participants shifted their focus toward developing new work plans under the theme "Program Synergy, Collaboration, and Collective Action for Progress."
Following the assignment of new roles and responsibilities, each department developed priority programs with clearly defined objectives, target groups, implementation schedules, and expected outputs.

Departments presented their work plans in thematic groups. The first group covered curriculum, student affairs, facilities, and school health programs, while the second group presented plans related to the library, school garden, livestock activities, the school business unit, environmental cleanliness, and transportation services.

During the feedback session facilitated by YSI, participants refined their program designs by identifying opportunities to integrate Climate Justice for Child Protection (KIPHA) into existing school activities. YSI presented real cases from communities surrounding the school, demonstrating how climate related issues directly affect children's wellbeing.

Rather than introducing additional activities, the discussion focused on incorporating these issues naturally into classroom learning. Teachers were encouraged to help students understand local climate challenges through simple, age appropriate learning experiences embedded within the existing curriculum.

The day concluded with a Commitment Session, where every department presented one key commitment and a measurable target for the upcoming academic year.

 
Day Three. Finalizing Plans and Budget Alignment

The final day focused on consolidating work plans, aligning budgets, and reaffirming institutional commitments.
Each department finalized its program indicators and implementation timeline to ensure realistic and effective execution. Participants also synchronized school activities with YSI's annual work plan, identifying collaborative initiatives and clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of both institutions.

Budget planning was conducted carefully to ensure that available resources would be allocated according to the school's highest priorities. Discussions emphasized efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability in implementing the planned programs.

 
Looking Ahead to the New Academic Year

With the completion of the three day workshop, SD Sanjaya Tritis enters the 2026/2027 academic year with a stronger strategic foundation. The partnership between the school and Yayasan SHEEP Indonesia, combined with well defined and measurable priority programs, is expected to create a learning environment that is more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the evolving needs of children while strengthening climate justice education and child protection within everyday learning.
