Located at the Mentawai Islands Regent's office, Monday (22/03/22), there was an activity to disseminate the results of the study on the local food system independence policy conducted by SHEEP Indonesia Mentawai to relevant stakeholders and stakeholders. This policy study uses basic data and several findings using tools that have been previously implemented. The findings point to food policies in the Mentawai islands which are still sectoral in nature and have not synergized with existing cross OPD (regional apparatus organizations).
The activity was attended by Mr. Kortanius Sabeleake as Deputy Regent, assistant II in the field of economics, expert staff for the regent, assistant I in planning, head of the agriculture and food security department, Head of the Population Control and Family Planning Community Empowerment Service (PMDP2-KB), head of the Koperindak service, the head of the P3A social service, as well as elements of related stakeholders and the Rahmadi & Iksan Research Team who became YSI's work partners in carrying out the study. The presence of the deputy regent of the Mentawai Islands also helped strengthen the advocacy process for the study carried out by YSI by directly providing directions and tasks to the relevant agencies to create a management system that focuses on local food and synergizes with YSI. in the Mentawai islands also refers to the results of the analysis of the study and is more capable of synergizing with various actors.
At the end of the meeting, a joint commitment and a follow-up plan were agreed to include elements of local food self-sufficiency in regional development plans and guidelines with the following details: formulating a district head regulation on healthy and sustainable local food; build a system of production, consumption, and local food trade in the Mentawai district; synergize between OPD in the development and protection of local food; and synergize with YSI related to sustainable local food development.
