Field school preparations related to the local food system have begun in Sabu Raijua. Preparations were carried out through simulations and learning that began in December 2021 by women and groups of women in Kotahawu village accompanied by YSI.
SHEEP Indonesia Foundation field staff together with women's groups initiated a field school simulation activity using corn, green beans, sorghum and rice as pilot crops. In this activity, they record the amount of rainfall for one year, record and identify land preparation, planting pre-planting and post-planting seeds, Observations starting from planting to harvesting and how to handle pests when an incident is found in the observed plant commodity. These observations were made every 3 days.
Simulations are very important so that there are important lessons and notes so that staff are able to prepare and arrange stages and teaching materials that are in accordance with the context of their respective regions. In addition, the community also learns to observe the process before actually studying with more material.
