Celebrating Independence Day, OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo Promotes Local Food

The 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day provided an opportunity for OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo to introduce and promote local food to the community. As part of the Independence Day celebrations held from 8 to 17 August 2026 at the Amabi Oefeto Subdistrict Office, OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo opened a food stall to introduce and sell a variety of locally produced food products.

Grilled pork and pork se’i were among the products offered. Throughout the event, OMB involved all of its members and provided three processed pork products: se’i, grilled pork, and pork meatballs. The products were made from pigs raised through the Tunas Muda production unit. More than 500 portions were sold during the event, generating approximately IDR 7,500,000 in sales.

For OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo, participating in the event was not simply about joining the Independence Day celebrations. The occasion was also used to encourage people to rediscover, taste, purchase, and consume food produced in their own communities.

The involvement of group members, local community members, and the production unit in supplying raw materials was an important part of the activity. Developing local food is closely connected to the sustainability of local businesses and the income of community members.

“On this occasion, we are not only engaged in buying and selling. We also want to remind the community that we need to preserve and protect local food so that we do not become dependent on food from outside the region,” said Aplonia Bira, Chairperson of OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo.

Local food is already closely connected to people’s daily lives. However, changing consumption patterns have made some local foods less common and less frequently consumed. For this reason, OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo sees community events such as the Independence Day celebrations as an opportunity to reintroduce local food in a simple and accessible way.

Through this activity, OMB wants to demonstrate that local food can be part of various community activities. Local food can also be processed into products with market value and create opportunities for local businesses.

Going forward, OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo plans to continue developing local food products and expanding their market reach. The community, particularly young people, is also encouraged to learn about local food, consume it, and explore opportunities to develop it into viable businesses.

Through this Independence Day celebration, OMB Tunas Muda Raknamo conveys a simple message: independence can also begin with the community’s ability to recognize, manage, and develop the potential of its own region, including its local food resources.
