12-14 October 2022 in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province SHEEP Indonesia participated in the National DRR Month Commemoration. With the theme "Bersama Kita Tangguh" and the tagline Bebaya Etam Tegoh, it is hoped that all elements present will be able to realise and encourage a resilient community in the face of disasters.
As a form of YSI's participation in the DRR Month Commemoration in Balikpapan, YSI participated in sharing experiences in running the Building Resilience Community Post Disaster programme in the Central Sulawesi and Lombok regions. The activity was part of the Ignite Stage session on Tuesday, 12 October 2022, at the Balikpapan Sport & Convention Center Building.
The talk show was moderated by Tri Sulistyowati (YSI Staff) and presented 3 resource persons namely Mr Asrul Repadjori (Kalaksa BPBD Kab. Sigi), Mr Muhammad Mursid Sanduan (Secretary of Kalaksa BPBD Kab. Donggala) and Mr Suparlan (BRC-PD Project Manager). The experience sharing session emphasised the importance of pentahelix collaboration in building village disaster mitigation systems. In his presentation, Suparlan said that pentahelix collaboration is an approach to anticipate risks so that the system that has been built is more sustainable and participatory. In line with Suparlan, Asrul Repadjori (Head of BPBD Sigi) told how the initiation and role of inter-parties, especially YSI, had opened the eyes and aroused community involvement to jointly build their village mitigation system.
