On Wednesday (24/08/22) at the Kalurahan Demangan Hall in Sapen, Yogyakarta, a presentation was held and shared Tips for Independent Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) for the elderly in the Sapen area, especially RW.06 Sapen.Kristina from SHEEP Indonesia, shared her story and reviewed some of the diseases that are often suffered by the elderly and simple ways to deal with them independently.This activity was carried out because of the initiation by the elderly group in Demangan village which was attended by 20 elderly people.
The activity began with a brief explanation of what diseases usually affect the elderly (people with an age category over 60 years) and what are the tips for simple clean and healthy living behaviors that can be done independently in their respective homes.The activity, which lasted for approximately 2 hours, was more filled with sharing by participants; one of them is Mr. Mardi who gave a proposal to hold activities on the same topic and involve other family members so that in the future they (elderly family members) have the ability and knowledge.The hope in the future is that what they get makes them able to treat and take preventive measures to reduce vulnerability; there is also Mrs. Rohaya who wants YSI to provide assistance and open a health consultation room for the sapen elderly.
The sharing activity is a follow-up to the cooperation and services for the community around the SHEEP Indonesia Office, one of which is increasing the capacity of the Sapen elderly group.Other activities are also carried out related to the theme of climate change in environmental aspects, health and themes related to disaster risk management.
