Tuesday (28/06/22) at the office of the regent of Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, there was a cross-stakeholder discussion regarding the community evacuation center (PEM) building management scheme located in Bangga Village, South Dolo District, Sigi Regency. The discussion focused on two main points, namely the involvement of local governments in the management of PEM and exchange of ideas and various inputs related to the draft guidelines for PEM management.
The meeting was attended by Assistant 1 regional secretary of Sigi Regency, chief executive of BPBD Sigi Regency, social service, village community empowerment office, health office, representatives of non-governmental organizations, Bangga Village government as well as community representatives and the Bangga Village alert team. In the first session, Martin Silaban, field coordinator of YSI for the Central Sulawesi region emphasized the importance of pem management in terms of policies and mitigas efforts, as well as the function of PEM in normal times is optimized as a place to hold meetings, training, and disaster risk reduction education.
The second session, was the criticism of the draft guidelines for the management of PEM with the relevant agencies present. In session two, there was a follow-up in the form of a follow-up meeting agenda with the regional secretariat of Sigi Regency to compile a pattern of PEM management and discussions related to ownership status where the district and village both want PEM to be their asset.In the end, policies related to the synergy of PEM management in the realm of budget, maintenance, determination of managers and facilities and infrastructure are proposed to be integrated and included in the work program of the sigi district government.
