Argomulyo, Sleman – Currently, there is much discussion about the concept of Vilage Governance across Indonesia. This concept is being developed in conjunction withvillage development.
- The village serves as social capital to strengthen solidarity, collaboration, self-reliance and mutual cooperation in an inclusive manner that go beyond the limitations of family, ethnicity, religion, ideology and politics.
- The village has power and government structure with inherent authority and accountability to regulate and manage community interests
- The village becomes a centre for local economic development that is capable of protecting and providing basic services to the community
Based on this concept, on 26 September 2017, YSI held a meeting with three villages - Wiladeg, Mangunan and Argomulyo – in Agromulyo Public Hall, Cangkringan, Sleman. Beyond village governance, the workshop aimed to give participants insight and experience from other sources and experts in the field. There were three experts present at the meeting: Andreas Subiyono (YSI Director), Bahrun Wardono (Dlingo Village Head) and Bayu Wahyono (lecturer at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, village academics).
