
7.6 Richter Scale of Tectonic earthquakes strikes West Sumatra on September 30, 2009 at 05.16 p.m. The quake epicenter was at 57 km Southwest of Pariaman with 71 Km depth. The earthquake causes massive infrastructure damage, injury and death. Last information update tells other 6.8 Richter scale earthquakes also strikes Jambi and Bengkulu with 36 Km depth, on October 1st 2009 at 8.39 a.m. Up to now; there is no fix data on victims and damage toward the earthquake in Jambi and Bengkulu.
Provincial Disaster Respond Agency of West Sumatra at October 1, 2009 recorded 390 dead tolls, spread out in Padang [197 people], Pariaman [21], Southern Coastal Area [7 people], Bukit Tinggi [7 people], Padang Pariaman [154 people] and Solok [4 people].

Response of SHEEP Indonesia Foundation
SHEEP Indonesia which has been implementing health and peace building program in East Aceh has access to coordinate with local network in North and West Sumatra, which its result is used as the basis of response.
After intense coordination and processing information updates from field, SHEEP Indonesia will send Medical Team on October 5, 2009, which consists of: one medical doctor, three nurses, one pharmacist, and one person in charge in assessment & communication and one person in charge for logistic and documentation. SHEEP Medical Team will join National Civil Society Disaster Response Post, under coordination with WALHI at Beringin III, No. 9, Padang, West Sumatra. SHEEP Indonesia Health Team will provide health services for 2 weeks. They will takes health equipments and medicine for approximately 1,400 patients. SHEEP Indonesia will establish a health post and run mobile clinic to reach the survivors.
