Empowerment and Advocacy for marginal and poor community
The main point of empowerment and advocacy as a strategy is in how social transformation can happen amongst civil society. Therefore all approach and program should direct to strengthen capacity, to build critical awareness of the people and should be contextual. This strategy should encourage community to become self-reliant, which means has ability to explore their capacity and local resources (such as human resources, natural resources, local wisdom and social capital) to overcome poverty and vulnerability in their community.
Beside strengthening people and empowering marginalized community to overcome social, economic, political and cultural problems, there still a need to conduct advocacy on public policy. This advocacy can be conducted through several media, such as public dialogue, audience and lobbying decision makers, demonstration, etc. This advocacy aims at changing or influencing public policy to be more pro-poor.
